1. On Keys, tap Hum beside Record my playing. In Beginner: Hum my melody on the Melody page, Hum my bass line on the Bass page.
  2. Tap record. After the count-in (Settings → Recording → Count in — at least a bar of clicks), hum or sing for the bars shown — "da da da" works better than one long slide.
  3. Blackcap writes down the notes it heard, in the song's key and lined up to the beat. Hear It With the Song plays them in your song, on their sound, with everything else.
  4. A bass line comes out low, where a bass plays — an octave or two below your voice — one note at a time. Hum it as low as feels easy; it doesn't have to be deep.
  5. Use It puts them in the Keys part that's open (replacing what it had). Not right? Try Again counts you in and listens again, in one tap.
  6. Just for one part of the song: in Beginner, tap a part at the top of your song, Record a piece, then Hum a melody or Hum a bass line. It plays in that part, and you choose where else.
  7. Every note can be moved, lengthened or deleted afterwards on Roll (Notes in Beginner), and the sound can be anything in the Sound menu.
