1. On the Beat screen, tap ⋯ (beside Tap In | Play Live) → Beat Library… (or Start from a beat above an empty grid; in Beginner, Browse all beats on the Beat page).
  2. Flick through the styles along the top — Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, Trap & Drill, House, Funk, Reggae, Afrobeats, Latin, Jazz, Blues, Country, Waltzes & Odd Meters and more — or search: funk, swing, 6/8, slow, 90.
  3. Tap a beat and it plays straight away with your song. Tap another to compare. Nothing changes until you choose.
  4. Under the list, hear its versions: Main, Chorus (bigger — a crash, more cymbal, more kick), Intro (sparser) and Fill (a fill in the last bar).
  5. Use It keeps the one you're hearing. Use It, With a Bigger Chorus keeps the beat and its other versions, and your choruses play the Chorus version (your intro, the Intro version).
  6. The library closes on the step grid, still playing — change anything you like: it's yours. Undo puts your old beat back; Cancel leaves it as it was.
  7. Tap the star beside a beat to keep it in Favourites, at the top of the first page. Beats you've saved (⋯ → This Beat → Save to My Beats…) are there too.

The versions are kept as beats of their own (Chorus Beat, Intro Beat, Fill Beat): press and hold a part in Plays in, at the top of the Beat screen, to give any part one of them — the Fill before a chorus, say.
