Not every idea starts as a song. Just Play is for playing around: a beat already going, a bass line and keys to play over it, and nothing to set up. When something sounds good, keep it — you don't have to press Record first. Then turn what you kept into a song.

  1. Open Just Play from the ⋯ menu, the Songs list, or "What have you got?" on a new song (Nothing yet, just play). A beat starts looping.
  2. The tabs are Beat, Bass, Keys and Sing & Play. Play the drum pads, the bass or the keys — a MIDI keyboard plays whichever tab is open.
  3. Found something you like? Tap Keep That. The last 4 bars you played become that part, playing round and round. Hold Keep That for the last 2 or 8 bars instead. The line under it says how many notes it heard and how many the last 4 bars hold.
  4. Add a Band (at the top) brings in drums, bass, keys and guitar to play along with, in any style and key. Or just play with the beat and what you've kept.
  5. Sing & Play is for your guitar or voice: turn on Hear Yourself (with headphones) and try the amps and effects.
  6. Turn into a Song makes a new song from the beat, the band (if you added one) and what you kept, with a verse and a chorus and chords to match, ready to add words, a melody and your voice.
  7. Undo and Redo are at the top. Record (the red button) catches everything you hear; Recordings (the waveform, top right) keeps them. My Songs (top left) takes you back — Just Play is kept as you left it.
